Doesnt really surprise me I guess thats why i always like storage wars a lot more.
Things to know about Allen Haff & Ton Jones... Yes, at one time they were doing acting, but its what they do to supplement their income while being actors. They are for real, auction hunters, and they do for a living. Now, Its a full time thing.
U obviously never done this before
Thank! You are so right. Allen is a pro and not a phony.
Being from LA, the fact that these guys have made money as actors means nothing. Anyone can get into acting and hundreds of thousands of people do. The percentage of people that consider their chosen profession acting - that actually make a living at it is like 3%. There are many others that consider it a hobby or sideline. That means that all these "actors" still have to make a living at something. If you watch the show - Allen and Ton say all the time that most units don't have anything special in them so they only bid on what they can see. I don't do storage units, but I do hunt out "treasures" and if you look hard enough you can find some pretty amazing things. I haven't spent $1k and turned it into $10k - but once I spent $5 and sold it for $250. Fake or not fake - it's a TV Show!!! You don't like it? Change the channel, turn it off and read a book or go outside or something more constructive than setting up a website on how TV isn't real. TV has never been real!!!!
Anyone who believes in this scripted crap believes in professional
wrestling. There is no hope for the brain-dead. Who is going to let
a storage unit with thousands of dollars in gold bullion be lost for the
lack of a few hundred dollars?
Who is going to walk into a pawn shop with a Faberge broach worth
tens of thousands of dollars they bought at a yard sale for 10
How many pawn shops have people walk in with Picasso's, guitars
once owned by Jimmi Hendrix, or documents signed by founding
The answer to these questions is ZERO. This is the same answer
to the question why the good stuff is never removed by the owner of
these storage facilities before they are auctioned off.
Let's shoot alligators without a millimeter of muzzle rise or recoil, or
film a logging crew which nearly succeeds in killing coworkers 3 or
4 times an episode.
ALL OF THESE SHOWS ARE FAKE AND SCRIPTED! Even the
so-called reality show American Chopper was fake. As much as
I enjoyed the show, the family resented the fact that the production
company created the scripts that had father and son at each others
throats. They said as much on their web site.
Any small logging company that had fatal near misses 4 times an
episode would be out of business in a heartbeat!
Wake up people, this is all scripted drama.
couple of fuckin jerks
2 pricks that ruin the programme
I was at an auction in Maryland when they filmed an episode. It took 2 days, at 2 different facilities. A friend of mine was there one day one, but not day 2. But the units that went up on day 2 they edited it and put him bidding on it.. Then when Ton and Allen wentry through one of the units they won, there were things inside that were NOT there when it was up for bid. I was there, saw it with my own eyes.... The ONLY thing not fake about it was the auctioneer Fred..
That Laurie is ugly as sin , looks like a fcked up beach ball & that Brandon man he's ugly too. These two idiot ruin the whole show
SHE IS SO UNATTRACTIVE SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE CAME OUT OF THE DESERT FROM NUCKLIOR TEST SITE " HILLS HAVE EYES "
She couldn't be more ugly if she had two heads,,,,,, you have you be over 18 just to look at her,..... nahhh only joking!! she is STUNNING,......from the ankles down!! and I bet she has got ugly feet as well.
I tell you another right ugly fucker is that tranny lookalike bloke thing off lizard lick towing (you cant train stoopid) she is the ugliest thing I have ever seen apart from lori of course.
I completely agree with you, they both have such a complex . She is so pig ugly, and him too. They both seem retarded.
Given that 'Storage Wars' has already been shown to be an even bigger fake, your opinion is questionable. Too bad the "facts??" stated in this article have no truth to them. And especially all the crap about the 'Sherman act'??
A lot of effort to make the author appear credible, when in fact they are bigger liars than they make Spike out to be.
Try checking the imdb bios on both men and the facts are clear.
I agree. These two guys came from Storage Wars and were bidding
against the same people. It was there where one of the cast ratted
out the show for "Salting" the units with valuable merchandise.
I see this Barry Weiss guy, a multi-millionaire and have to ask
myself a question. "What is to stop the owner of one of these
businesses from stripping all of the valuable items before putting
them up for auction? It is only human nature, I doubt anyone
could get rich doing this for a living.
And as to the phony pawn shop in Playa Del Rey, you notice all
of the scenes are of the half-ton of fraud entering through a small
side or rear door and everything else is interior shots that can be
done on a sound stage.
These FAKE shows have done NOTHING but jack up prices for people, like myself, trying to make a few bucks. After these shows started airing a unit I could normally get for $40 - $50 started going for $360 - $500.. Thanks HollyWeird for taking money put of the pockets from those of us who REALLY need the extra income.. And hats off to those who WASTED hundreds on a $50 unit...
Lori is the ugliest cringy fat pig i have ever seen, i h8 her and her fella i'd také great pleasure in beating there noses in
Yep Lori and Brandon are the ugliest and most annoying couple in the world, ive smashed my telly beacuse i cant stand to look at Lori's ungly troll face anymore! Im pretty sure shes not a woman. Rant over..... I h8 pigs
I just mistakenly unsubscribe. Would you please re- subscribe me!
Yeah I knew those guys were actors or had been before this show I think they both did some reality TV stuff, they have also said the stuff about how they buy 40 - 50 units without hitting big ( like the poker table special of Storage Wars ) and we only see the crazy units but it seems pretty fake to me.
Allen Haff comes off like an actor on the show, I mean who acts like that when they are selling something to a potential buyer with the smartass remarks he makes ?
I wouldn't be surprised if that show was 100% fake.
I watch storage wars a lot....this show cracks me up compared to it because EVERY shed they get they are making THOUSANDS......its bull. Not to mention sheds that go for 3 or 4K on Storage Wars are selling for 800 bucks on this show...YEAH RIGHT
Watch an interview with them. They even say they buy abt a hundred units and hit big in twenty. The beginning of the show even says these are there biggest finds.
If you watch the very beginning of the show, they tell you that they are only documenting the best lockers they find. They don't show you every one they buy, only the ones they make the big money one. So, sure, it seems like every locker they buy makes them thousands, but there are a bunch of lockers they don't show where they didn't get squat. The show shouldn't be considered fake just because of that.
Lol. Who the fuck believes this shit? I mean they find in a locker full of crap suddenly 10k $ items. Yeah right. What BS. Who the fuck is burrying such valuble peaces under garbage bags? NOBODY. Ita fake for tv so all rhe trailer trash people watch it and dream to become an auction hunter and get rich... Lol... Stupid white trash
Allen Haff is a second generation antique dealer with a net worth over a million. Google it. I guess he's not really a starving actor.
You are so stupid it hurts. The only thing they make money with is the show itself. How come there is no footage on youtube of other people attending those auctions? If these two guywould really appear at real auction all the other people there would make pictures and videos of them. And yet there are none.
that show is obviously fake, anyone who thinks that show is not staged is dumb as hell!!
I worked at gold and silver pawn for 9yrs.american documents, picasso paintings etc have been brought into the
store.rick is not an ordinary pawn shop.he deals in many high dollar itams.i worked there and was a witness to many of these items
the best part about that show is when they squeeze an extra $50 or whatever out of their buyer and then allen shouts "YES!" or "BOOYA!" or something and does a tiger woods fistpump.
I think I question this website more than the TV show. From your homepage I found a link that reads don't believe everything you read or see on TV.
Which is a good advice.
bummer I like that show. i love to plunder.
This show, and all the others like it are absolutely fake. Picking and selling resale items is a business (and a very lucrative one) I you want to really learn how to make money off selling junk, go to www.theartofpicking.com THE TRUTH to making money!
The "Art of Picking" is OK...but I found a better site in Vancouver, www.vancouverpickers.com
"Dropping a unit" would not be a violation because the price is inflated and only buyers are involved, only if the seller is involved with an accomplice bidder would this be a violation. Buyers must conspire to deflate the cost to be in violation, this is in accordance with your definition of the law, I'm not sure what it is on my own. But this is the case with your description.
I knew this crap was fake!!!! Both cant act for shiaat anyway! Allen Haff is a arrogant POS. This show is one of the worse shows out there!!! They seem to find the Mona Lisa in every epsisode!! LOL They are JOKES!!!! I love when they go to a buyer and basiclly demand a higher price then what the buyer really wants to pay but the buyer gives in ALL THE FN TIME!!! HAHA yeah its a real show................REAL FAKE......With 2 of the dopest actors they could ever find! Take this crap off the air!
Exactly great explanation..... try to make it @ market and antique shows or actually show a real pawn shop.. and the appraisals r so stupid.... thanks Brian lakeland Florida
It's really sad that you think a show is fake just because some random website says it is.
amen dude, couldn't of said it better myself,i mean c'mon, that show is ridiculously phony!!!!!
Fake as Hell I agree, but I disagree with the idea the show is violating some 100+ year old act. I tried to explain to an idiot neighbor that any illegal activities like making moonshine or poaching Truffles in Appalachia would involve the production
company in a felony.
If the entire show is scripted and the units are salted by the production company, no crime involving bid rigging is involved.
This is how they get away with it.
You see these guys hunting alligators in the South shoot the
beasts and none of their rifles or pistols recoil. My favorites
are the loggers and demolition crews who nearly kill one of their
coworkers 4 or 5 times an episode. This kind of criminal
stupidity would end up bankrupting companies and even involve
The one that at least appears real is Pawn Stars. They own a
pawn shop to be sure, but I suspect that this show is every bit
as scripted as the rest.
i'd love to beat the fucking shit out of allen PUNK ASS and Ton that fat fucker
It's insulting to watch Storage Hunters on "TruTV", I know ironic title, but it's so blatantly a forgery. I live here in Las Vegas and know a few people from Pawn Stars. Basically, it's dramatic but ultimately real! When Storage Wars was in town they took a item they found to The Victorian Casino auction House...real item, real business. That's exactly what Storage Hunters lacks, they seem to know everything! They find lockers with no junk and all goodies! Who even writes that crap? TruTV = TrashTV!
Storage hunters is the worst i use to watch it but when that white trash bitch lori went racist on the black lady on one of the new episodes that was it i cant believe the let her say that on tv what a piece of garbage she is
I saw the "villians" for Storage Hunters had cameos in the movie "Contraband" and it was just one more piece of evidence that it is all fakery.
Well it's simple whem I find these shows are fake I don't watch them any more! The fcc should get off there duff!
A simple gogle search would seperate out the attention grab headline from the tuth, Allan has been in the business fo 20 years, he did some stuff on TV, most related to what he's doing now. As far as rigging a bid? please, I have done this and when i'm head to head with somebody I know we may agree to stop at 500 and split the cost and profit. Its perfectly legit. Do some research.....
First of all ur full of shit.... I've been in the antique_auctions_markets and most units r full of nappy wigs books vhs , cassettes, bootleg dvds .... oh and piss stained mattresses and nasty furniture..
You do some research. Go to the wayback machine and find his old entries of IMDB (say, from 2008). They have a completely different bio that doesn't mention anything about the antique business. He probably just made up that bio for idiots like you who do a search on Google and believe the results they see.
Yeah like you cant make it up. People are so dumb they believe everything.
It's entertainment get over it!
This auction hunters and the other one on tru t.v. is so bogus. I've been in the antique and junk business and flea markets, in these two shows they don't show family photos, tons of books , nappy hair_wigs vhs tapes, cassette tapes.... ATLEAST of storage wars Barry is the best he finds what I like to calm the truth. and the appraisals for this show is so bs.... u can ask millions of dollars for a piece of art but realistically what its worth 5_10 bucks @ the market or a real auction.... thanks for reading Brian Wilson... lakeland Florida
STOP BUYING TRAILERS AT TRASH AUCTIONS, AND SELLING SH!T AT FLEA MARKETS THEN!!!!!
Yep if you folke had brains you could just search these guys and see they are not "professional actors" their bio's are all over the net! allen haff is in the antiques business from his parents and grandparents. Clinton jones is a self proclaimed hobbyist and made his livinf dealing antiques guns knives sporting goods etc. He runs an animal rescue as well as allen haff is also sponsoring animal shelters and rescues. They both have been locker hunting for many years before this show! They aren't rich and probably never will be. Stop believing the first thing you see, do some research and get educated.
I HAVE SEEN THIS GUY AT AUCTIONS FOR 5 YEARS NOW. HOW FAKE DO YOU WANT/NEED IT TO BE? HE'S KNOWLEDGABLE AND KNOWS ANTIQUES. IT'S FUNNY TO HEAR ALL THE "FAKE" TALK ABOUT ALL OF THESE SHOWS IN A ROW....STORAGE WARS IS FAKE? PAWN STARS? PICKERS IS FAKE??? YOU ARE A FAKE!
I think the auction hunters show is hilarious, with the exception of those fat ass taylor brothers, intimidating??? PLEASE, ok lets stare at Brandon and make a stupid face and hope that intimidates him??? It's not working you illetirate over weight full of sh*$ wannabes. I think you two rejects better find a different line of work, cause the prices you claim to sell stuff for is so far from reality it's as pathetic as you two geniuses, I think the sewage waste removal would be more up your guys alley! Close your legs, hold your noses and fart, maybe you can clear out your minds and get with reality, that means whats going on in the real world, in case that word was too big for your intelligence, good luck losers!! Everyone else is awesome!! Rock on guys, you got my support!!
oh ! and i thought everything on tv was real. I am sure happy that we have you as a watchdog. Now about Santa Claus?
Hilarious! At least this guy really knows his shit when it comes to antiques. Watch for 4 minutes and you can see he's a pro! Reagan was a president and also acted for awhile...welcome to SoCal idiots!
Good point! The reason these guys come off as "Experts" is that
the show is scripted from beginning to end. How many people
walk into a pawn shop with a Picasso or Faberge jewelry? How
many people find extremely valuable goods inside storage units?
How many people even know the value of the items in these units?
Why is the cast nearly the same when they travel to another state?
Who thinks the owners of these facilities do not strip all valuable
items from the units before they are auctioned off?
This is phony on so many levels, it goes well beyond an empty
storefront in Playa Del Rey!
so fake how is they always get big $
And never lost is crab
Ok so I researched Ton and Aleen and they have not been in tv shows and movies this website is a croc of SHIT
You're wrong. This is Ton Jones' IMDb profile - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1594316/ and this is Allen Haff's - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0353105/
IF ANYBDY BOTHERED TO READ BOTTOM OF DISCLAIMER AT BEGINNING OF SHOW IT STATES SOME TH EPISODES ARE JUST SOME OF THE BEST FINDS IN PAST OR TO THE EFFECT OF RHAT I OWNED A MOBILE SIGN CO SAME VAN AND WE TRAVELED RHE SAME WE BROUGHT FOLD UP BED PUT IN BACK AND TRADED DRIVING....NOT FAKE MISUNDERSTOOD MAYBE SO THEY ACT ? THEY ALSO HAVE A NICE SIZE WHAREHOUSE THEY WORK OUT OF ALSO TON JUST GOT HIS KNEE TATTED OF MASTER INK YOU GO TELL HIM HE IS A FAKE GOOD LUCK!!
I have been suspicious that this show is fake, but you have not given us any proof that this is the case. Simply being actors is not enough. Where is your evidence that this show is fake? I'd like to believe that you are correct, and I have searched in vain for reliable evidence that this show, and Storage Wars, is fake, but I have yet to find real evidence to support the claim.
I have also questioned the validity of this show, i have a theory, Cross promotion, the guns are supplied by those who end up buying the guns, they seem to sell the guns to the same silver haired guy, the chances of these guys finding all this great stuff gets a little more unbelievable after every show. I believe they plant the good stuff into the lockers after they buy them, the people that supply the goods are the ones that the auction hunters approach... obviously... and thats why they always end up selling at a good price. This is a great marketing idea, especially to help these antique dealers to get exposure on a TV show which screens around the world.
These guys are not that lucky, they are actors and all the good stuff is planted, thats why all the camera shots are so well timed...
Hey buddy, that's a pretty great theory you got going there. Tough to break it to you but that's absolutely not true at all. All the stuff is planted? Bullshit. I loved the part where you posted your evidence and proof in backing up this bullshit claim.
No. They never cheat on tv. Its all real. They find every week 5-10k items. Yeah right. How come nobody witnesses those two at real auctions?
The stuff aint planted?? Why is it they never film them loading the van, but the one time they do Ton picks up some piece of crap foot-stall by the leg that just so happens to be upside down, and coincidently the bottom falls off and conveniently there is a hidden compartment containing antique guns? Oh, and it just so happens to be the one and only time they buy a unit for how ever much and there's nothing great in there so they work out they're probably only gonna make a couple hundred bucks on it..... oh suddenly they're making a couple grand on it as per usual thanks to these guns. Oh and people default on their payments for the units?... so why the f*ck can they not afford to pay when there's blocks of gold bullion hidden on the back of pieces of artwork? Come on now! Jokes!
they are interesting, aren't too far off on prices, and like auctions or garage sales, everyone knows you hit the good ones after many, many duds. I'm sure they have to shorten film -- no one would watch the hours of finding and sorting junk until the treasure is found. I've learned from the show and it entertained me. what more do you want?
We get Alan as a "hunk" easy on the eyes with a cute personality, and Ton with his impish grin and yen for adventure and shooting watermelona. Would that the Storage Wars guys had some personality! And that Brandi would soften her schtick toward Jarrord and not be so mad all the time; if she's an "actor"...try acting like you're in this together and that you love him.
I've had a feeling about this show for a while now.... and these 2 guys would of had to of been buttf**ked by leprechauns to be so lucky to find all that stuff.... not to mention that they are 2 of the biggest a**holes i've ever seen... hate this show but not as much as i hate allan haff, he has way to big of an ego and it is completely unsubstantiated.. i hate him and hope he gets fined and goes to prison, that piece of sh*t. Man, that felt great to get that off my chest :)
i have been going to auctions for 50 years and agree with the other posters....in just 1 show these guys come up with treasures that any picker would be happy if he made that type of hit in a lifetime and these guys do it every week...not hardly....makes for good tv but as one of the other posters said harder to make a buck as everyone thinks they can make a killing at these sales now
EVERYBODY IT SAYS THAT THE CONTAINERS THAT THEY SHOW ARE LESS THAN 10% OF THE ACTUAL CONTAINERS THAT ALLEN AND TON FIND IT IS THERE MOST RARE AND VALUABLE DISCOVERIES DO THE MATH 35 EPISODES 2 YEARS THAT THIS SHOW HAS BEEN RUNNING THEY GO TO MULTIPLE AUCTIONS EVERY WEEK AND THEY KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Obviosly you dumbasses that wrote this article know that you (articles writers) are talking complete bullshit THIS SHOW IS REAL
i thought was fake my son goes to these storage auctions and he has never found anything worth more than 20 bucks.. and i havent seen alan on any shows but ton is on one of the earlier pitbulls and parolee shows as the person they call when they need snakes removed he goes by clinton in that episode and only saw him on one episode..
Why does Dave has to act a jacks-ass
Wow, I feel stupid, I hate reality shows, but have spent lots of time watching these 3 shows. This really makes me angry. Not going to watch them ever again. What a let down!
This doesn't surprise me. Television shows and commercials have become so trashy in the past few years. I've been tempted more than ever to cancel my cable and start reading more often.
Some of these people are more pissed of than a 10yr old finding out Santa isn't real! It's a show people, if you enjoy watching it then it's done it's job.
Well, I actually ran into Ton one night and we got to talking about the show. And I asked him why his buddy tried so hard, I mean you can clearly tell they are both acting, horribly too.. And he ended up telling me it's just a tv show and that's how he makes his income, it's not anything more than that. So go figure. This was directly from TONs mouth himself
This story is terrible and cheap. Who are you trying to fool? Damn pathetic man
Yep they are actors but the disclaimer that the auctions on tv are representatives of actual auctions - not actual live filmed auctions. It's entertainment and that is all. Ton and Allen are collectors of certain things though so they do have knowledge and experience in the field.
I see a lot of these comments about these types of shows being fake, and all of them come from people that have never been to an auction that was also a taping for one of these shows. Unlike most, I have been to live auctions and tapings for these types of shows and I've bidded against the stars. These shows are not fake. The auctions happen normally, if a unit goes to one of the stars of the show, they will redo that unit to get different angles and shots. People are asked at the beginning of the auction to remember their bids for a unit just in case they have a re-shoot of it. Sometimes the bidding will only be between the stars and not individuals. At time, once a unit has been sold to a star, a person may move or something else will happen that causes shots of the unit or auction not to look the same even after it's edited. So people, before you say something like this is fake based on what you see on TV, attend a real auction and taping of an episode, you will learn something. If you do, plan on being on location for a while.
In the show there may be some rigging, there in fact very likely is. however television is there for our entertainment. that is how they get ratings, people watch. The gun expert in the may 30 (or 31) episode "Cliff" is my uncle, (the powder load pistol, dc episode) he had to meet with them in a neighboring state at a pre approved shooting location where they could shoot. and allot of the dialog is staged or done over. but the offers, negotiating, and sales of the items are legit.
If anyone knows Allen Haff's true background he has several several antique stores. He has gone to swap meets estate sales etc. yes has has hosted shows, because of his in depth knowledge, but he is the real deal when being Auction Hunters. They haven't broken any Sherman Acts. That's proposterous!
I think Allen really does have a resale shop in California... I've checked into this show before and I'm 90% sure he really has his own shop....
Ok, you are all full of shit and obviously are watching something different from me....also, Russell, you are a FAKE yourself...everything you have claimed to have done, it's all bullshit.....there is a reason why you were in a mental institution...you belong there....there is no way you have done what you have claimed...I know that for a fact.....I think you all need to do your research before following a fraud!!! Trust me...it will make the rest you look less like fools if you do!! Wow...you are all Fake in the end!! Assholes!
Just watched S03 EP02 Never a safe bet! This is a FAKE!! The safe in the locker has the handle turned, meaning open and the dial on 90 then when they go in and try to open it the handle is horizontal meaning locked and the dial is on 0 !! Why is it different ?
I just find it funny how all the buyers on Auction Hunters always have the exact amount of cash when they agree on a price. If its $5000 they are handed a wad of cash and the buyer seems to always have the exact amount. no counting involved. That peaked my curiousity.
These shows are great to watch. Watching all the dull stuff in real life that these shows "edit" out by their storylining would bore you all, been there, lived it. They pick likeable people who are in the business of collectables & antiques & make a good show based on fact in some proportion. They win on the terms of what the show is for. Silly comments about everything being fake when you can read up on Allen & Ton is typical web nonsense.
Fuck that fake ass show!!!
So who cares if it's a fake....it beats the hell out of all the muck and garbage that's on. At least the show is entertaining......GET A LIFE !
fake yuupp o wrong show lol ton Jones is devil worshiper those people do anything for money he needs and most of those people who do those shows need to do something that's help people instead of living a lie I am an actor and I would never want to be on these shows
Ridiculous article..didn't prove a thing..I'll still watch the show..it's entertaining
its tv its supposed to be fake, remember when tv shows used actors to make shows... good shows .... shows that had real stars with real acting abilities, or atleast actors who had paid their dues
NEXT SHOW THEY ARE GOING TO FIND JIMMY HOFFA ..HE WILL BE ALIVE BUT, FROZEN AND THEY WILL SELL HIM FOR $$ 1,000,000..THIS SHOW SUCKS MORE COCK THAN
ANNA NICOLE SMITH DID
But Rick, you taught me how to suck cock - cocksucker. LMFAO!!!!
f#@% you inbred people are dumb. NO POINT GETTING JEALIOUS. Not every unit has a profit, if only they showed you dumb c@#T$ how many units they get and loose lots of money on, maybe you would believe... Next time they look in a unit, maybe open your eyes and ears and you will see what they do....or maybe yours are just painted on!!!! AND TO ALL YOU DUMB F@#$ER$ NO A STORAGE COMPANY CANT LOOK AND STEAL FROM A UNIT BEFORE AUCTION, THATS CALLED THEFT... MAYBE THATS WHY YOU SEE THEM BOLT CUT THE LOCKS OFF BEFORE OPENING THE DOOR...... MAYBE YOU SPECIAL BREEDING PEOPLE SHOULD KEEP YOUR TRAILER DOOR SHUT, PUT THAT FORK IN THE SOCKET AND FLICK THE LITTLE SWITCH BESIDE IT AND DO THE WORLD A FAVOUR.....................
Stupid american people, not really a surprise everything is fake there...
You are very misinformed about the The Sherman Antitrust Act and Bid Rigging.
Bid Rigging, within the confines of the Sherman Act, applies to COMMERCIAL (usually government) contracts, NOT public auctions.
Bid rigging occurs when several companies, or individuals bidding for a contract agree together to submit bids which will favor one party over the others.
This typically involves several companies getting together and all agreeing to submit grossly inflated "cover" bids so that a lower bid looks more attractive, even though it too is artificially inflated.
It also involves things like bid rotation—where several companies agree that they will take turns to submit winning bids—or bid suppression, where people who would normally bid on the contract are convinced not to, either by the offer of something in return, or more nefarious means.
Antitrust also applies when "under the table" deals mean that less favourable bids are chosen ahead of more favourable ones.
It does NOT usually apply to private Auctions. The idea of "dropping a unit" while perhaps immoral, is not illegal, and the ... If the other party didn't take the bait, their bids would be binding, and they would be stuck with the unit.
The only exceptions would be if their was an agreement with the auctioneer ("I'll run up the bid, if you give me a cut of your commission") or where auctioneers agree to make "Public" auctions "private" and only open to those involved in the rigging (either delibarately not accepting bids from people outside of the ring, or changing the time and date of a public auction, but only telling those who are part of the ring.)
Simply running up a bid is not illegal, and certainly well outside the remit of the Sherman Act.
I have a question more than a comment.
First thing: Auction Hunters does not seem real, now to the question.
Why don't the Storage Facility Owners look through their abandoned storage spaces for valuables before putting them up for Auction?
The one thing I liked best about the show was the music by Peter Allen (My Uncle Sam) hit the nail on the head.
I met Ton in 1999, when he worked as a licensed piercer in Lancaster, Ca. Around 2006, Ton was finishing his education towards being a licensed reptile handler. He was then part of Palmdale Reptile Rescue and was recognized and showcased on television when he was called in to rescue some reptiles that were being threatened by fire in Acton, CA. He is not an actor. Some of their "finds" may be re-enacted like other shows of their kind, but I don't believe it's faked.
The sherman act does not apply. Why are you picking on this show when there are other shows that do the exact same thing? That's how that particular game is played. Sure, they were low end actors, but every actor in Hollywood that doesn't hit the big time has some other kind of job. You wouldn't holler if they were on a reality series playing waiters, would you? I think you have an axe to grind with these people in particular, and thus any statement you make is invalid.
sorry - but you are wrong. They did not break the Sherman Act. You stated earlier that it required 2 or more participants (who are in agreement) to artificially inflate the price. Ton and Allen are counted as 1 participant. Who is the other??? Nice job, bonehead
I DON'T CAE IF YOU SAY THEIR FAKE.THEY EAN AN HONEST LIVING AND I ENJOY.BEA
After watching the show a couple of times and seeing the HUGE profits these guys were supposedly making, I knew it HAD to a big fake out! There is NO way any storage auction buyers make this kind of money, if they did EVERYONE would quit their jobs and become hunters! Yes, IF you get REAL lucky and, on that rare occasion, find some expensive jewelry or items when bidding on units, you MIGHT made a decent profit, BUT that is rare in the extreme.. Most people I know that own storage units do NOT put their priceless jewelry or antiques in them, they put junk like broken furniture or tools in them, the broken down car or truck, etc..
ALL of these auction shows are rigged though some or more so then others.. This one is the worst of the worst!
The best part is how big fat Ton Jones squeezes the buyer for money by looking like a scary biker, 2/3 price for something left for garbage in a storage locker? Get out of here, those head tattoos are gross.
Its so obviously staged, I don't even know where to start....
I just watched the episode where they found the "cemetary gun"...LOL
So the gun/antique dealer, whom they contact to identify their find, whom has supposedly never seen this thing, wants to meet them at a cemetary....hmmm
Then it just so happens, that they decide to fire a gun, that supposedly hasn't been fired in 200 years at that same cemetary at a drop of a hat, with no legal /safety issues whatsoever....sure
I also get a kick out of all of their motorized vehicles that "will pay out big only if they start"....
I'm pretty sure that in real life, they wouldn't try to revive the vehicle in question by at least putting in fresh gas and seeing if it will even run, instead of bringing it straight to the buyer "as they found it" and bite their nails in the anticipated drama to see if the vehicle starts, doubling their price....
Those 2 morons are only insulting people's intelligence...
If any of you believe this show is for real....maybe I could interest you in some Nigerian gold?
All you need to do is to cover my shipping costs for the gold and I will share it with you 50/50 when It arrives via shipping container?
They are only going to show there best stuff as it says and when I look up the biography of the guys just to do my own hw the first thin it says is these guys were selling on eBay and other places before it was cool. I don't know I'm split but I think there is definitely a degree of realism in it and it seems fake because well just about everything in California is fake
I was asked to comment on this as an expert of the auction industry as one of the top auctioneers in the world today as well having 20 plus years in the business. Just google my name and you will know I am real. My smallest auction was over 2 million and the largest in a single day 52 million. 1. There are lots of ways to find great treasures in the storage style auctions, but they are far and few in between. Most people go broke looking for the treasures. The biggest key of this style is all the trash you have to deal with like the beds, couches, and a lot for things the go straight to the trash. It is a lot of work for very little pay back. As for this show I live which is funny two blocks from there pawn and there is no pawn shop. People want to think there is buried treasure as old as time. As for the Sherman Act since I was in Law school. You can run the bid all day long and no law is broken. Now you talk to another buyer and tell him what your going to bid on the unit and for them to stay out of it, or set a plan of in place for the finial bid. That is where it is at you go straight to jail. There is no passing go and collecting 200 dollars like monopoly.
I hope that clears the air on a few things.
I came upon this online and just had to post a comment with this simple post. Don't we watch "fake" shows, movies, etc all the time? In case you guys didn't realize, csi, ncis, wwe, house, etc etc, and all those movies EVERYONE in the world watches, are.. wait for it.. fake. Just because they slap the "reality" label on it doesn't mean it's "reality" it just means it's "real" as in real people, having real reactions, to a scene they have been put on ..confusing? well, it's kinda like when you buy fast food because they call it "fresh" and assume it's "good" for you merely because of that. When in reality, you just consumed 3,000 calories 78% cholesterol, and a ton of fat. If someone told you to buy a locker, that your budget is blah blah, and then you open it and find a brick of gold. I'm sure all your reactions would be "real" even though you were just led through it. Do I think this show is "fake" I honesly don't care, and find it ridiculous that anyone out there does. If you want "real" turn the tv off, get out of your house, meet real people, and have real interactions and events. Don't expect anything real from your tv, you'll be dissapointed.
What real reactions? Its scripted, you idiot. Do you really think all those expert know right away if the items are real or fake and can value them in a couple of seconds. You must be an idiot to believe this.
Does that mean that Caroline...............and all the other people are fake also................how about the two women who got a unit dropped on them...........................oh I guess it was too god to be true..............
Of course it's fake, it's not rocket science, it's made for entertainment!!
Any normal person would have knocked his front teeth out having listened to his smart ass haggling "he's just a cock".
allan is a girl in my opinion.he makes out he,s a big time know it all.iv talked to my mates from that other auction show the tayler bros and they jumped at the chance to do a guest spot on allans show and kick his and his oversized bud,s arse.it's time to shut his smart mouth .go tayler bros!
TAYLER BROS! GOOD ONE DICK, TON WOULD EAT THEM FOR BREAKFAST FAG!!!! WAKE UP TIME TO LEAVE YOUR TRAILER PECKER!!!!
is hardcore pawn on trutv ...fake???
Its kinda wierd that in some storage shows they find guns and some they dont.....some shows say its illegal to sell or own the guns, and some shows only sell guns.,.....
Yes guys, they are not fake (irony)
I think most forms of entertainment is fake. I don't watch breaking bad to become a meth producer.... I watch it because I like watching Bryan Cranston run around in his whitey tighties! Im happy with my own job and I'm happy with my fake shows.

just watched T money "Bid on" and "win" a ride on flame thrower , then a guy called Lance (a "friend" of the auctioneer) came to price it and gave T money $4000 , And i remember reading something in the newspapers a while back about a ride on flame thrower that a guy had built , and surprise surprise after looking up the article , its the exact same machine and the Buyer turns out that he built it!http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2405433/Engineer-builds-wheelchair-fitted-FLAMETHROWER.html
The autioneers are going through the units and are taking the most valuable items. Notice the locks they cut? Just the way bald eagle acts when he watches the fools diving for gold where there is little.
i actually like lori and brandon they actually know what theyre doing, quite shrewed infact. Its that horrible little fat fuck who is nothing more than a bully!! Thick as shit with no brains an no neck!! i want to punch him in his fat fuck neck so badly that i almost bought a ticket to the states to hunt him down... What the hell was the first clue? The fact that they have a shop
that does not exist? But then Jarrod and Brandi have 2 phony
stores. Or is it the seeing the EXACT same merchandise on
Storage Wars, Pawn Wars and American Restoration? Or could
it be merchandise that was pawned or restored that did not
even match the items that were dropped off? Looks like some
dork in the prop department made a mistake! What about the
fact that every storage lot owner picks out the good stuff LONG
before the auctions. And of course it is probably quite common
to have someone come into a pawn shop with $90.000 worth
of silver or have someone lose $300,000 worth of art or a
hundred grand in gold lose it all for want of a few hundred
dollars in back rent.
Or take the American restoration guys. I am a former air
compressor mechanic, Millwright, industrial maintenance
mechanic and half-assed industrial electrician., The collection
of clueless idiots on that show could not even point out the
business end of common hand tools, let alone use them
That brings us to American Pickers. In one episode, they
bought an enamel plated gas station sign. Someone folded
the sign in thirds, which allowed the folds to be rusted to
the point there were gaping holes in the creases. They
paid $100.00 for a sign that was not worth 10 cents for the
scrap metal. Idiots may fall for that "Our customers will
pay a premium for the "Patina" crap. If these people were
for real, they would have been out of business years ago!
And yes, I researched their FAKE business locations.
But these are not even the worst of the so-called "Reality
shows." My favorites are the phony loggers and demolition
crews that seem to have 10 near misses in each episode.
Any company that hired idiots who would climb out of a
man man lift 40' in the air without a safety harness would
have enough accidents and possibly fatalities to have
OSHA put them out of business!
Den, you gotta LOVE then there hillbilly gator hunters. I
love seeing these dorks firing big bore handguns and high
powered rifles with ZERO observed recoil. They must have
a disclaimer in tiny letters which read "No animals were harmed
in the production of this TV episode."
EVERY one of these so called "Reality shows" are fake and
scripted from beginning to end. None of them are for real!
Just as certain that a 6'7" steroid user (Hulk Hogan) with
26" biceps would scramble the eggs of a man he punched in
the head, this is not for real. It is no more genuine than
the stories about motorcycle riding lesbian nuns on the
Oprah, Phil, Jerry Springer et. al. TV talk shows.
That said, I enjoy some of these shows, but I am FAR too
intelligent to believe they are real!
PS I just remembered that the storage wars are not guilty of
violating the Sherman Act for bid fixing, because the shows
are staged. This reminded me of the BS Truffle poachers and
Moonshiners. Do you brain-dead morons actually believe that
any TV show would violate the law by depicting criminal
activity? They would be charges as an accessory to a crime!
Just for the record, your understanding of how the Sherman Act works is wrong. There is no law that stops one person from "running up" the price of a bid against a separate bidder, the crime comes if the running up is done in collusion with either the auctioneer (searching for a higher commission) or the seller (searching a higher selling price). The bit you claim is showing them breaking the Sherman Act doesn't actually show any breach because it does not show collusion with the above.
Just my legal two-penn'orth.
I may have misstated my words regarding the Sherman Act. It is
my contention that if you are not violating any law by virtue of the
fact that the show is total fiction, one cannot be guilty of any
crime. I made this case in my first post on this Blog, as the
proprietor contends re: the Sherman act. It would be like
charging a producer with bank robbery because of a bank
robbery scene starring James Cagney. I am no expert in the Sherman Antitrust Act, but if no crime whatsoever was
That is why I also mentioned the Appalachian truffle poachers
and the Hillbilly moonshiner "Reality" TV shows. I am absolutely
certain that the any studio producing these phony shows run
them past their legal department before they air episode one.
Let me say this. I'm not a storage locker hunter. I'm not even prospecting on storage units and I do not even consider myself in the league of those that do. But I will tell you this one incident that occurred with me and this will set a record straight. I went to a neighborhood garage sale. Not even really looking, in fact, someone I was with dragged me to it. So I was looking at their stuff and I came across something I was dumbfounded to even see offered at a garage sale. A vacuum cleaner. Not just any vacuum cleaner but a Kirby and one a couple models back from my G4. So I asked the homeowner how much they wanted for it? First, I heard the story oh it was my grandmother's and we have no use for it so I will sell it for $50. I about dropped dead. Seriously. I told them do you know what this is? They said "No its a vacuum cleaner.". I said "No its not just a vacuum cleaner its a Kirby and Kirby's are the Rolls Royce of vacuum cleaners.". "And the fact you have told me it was your grandmothers the fact is it will outlive you, me and your kids!". She starred at me afterwards. I felt bad for her and walked off. But I am here to tell you I could of easily scored probably a couple hundred for it. My point is, regardless of what you may think about Auction Hunters and it possibly being hype or staged I can tell you there are people out there with what they think is junk and it is priceless treasure. Simply because they have no idea about what it is they really have. So when I watch an episode of Auction Hunters I am getting FREE information on what the real value is of items out there on the market. Take that as advice when looking at prospecting a garage sale or storage unit. Then also, "One Man's Junk is Another Man's Treasure!".
No no no. It's all real you haters are all wrong. I won a lockup once and in it you won't believe what i found? I found Zorro, a 1972 Elvis, a complete roswell UFO. Just put fresh dark matter in it and two cranks it started. I found the moon landing shuttle, i found weapons of mass destruction all the way from Iraq. I even found 6millions Jews all well an alive.
